Steve man for the job

WIDNES chairman Steve O’Connor admits that he moved swiftly to secure the services of current coach Steve McCormack for next season’s campaign.

O’Connor said: “Steve has done extremely well in very difficult circumstances this year.

“He was the natural choice to appoint as head coach when I took over the club as he had twice taken Widnes to within touching distance of reaching Super League in previous seasons.”

He added: “My view has not altered – Steve is one of the most respected coaches in the game and still very much the man for the job.”
