Clubs agree on importance of clash

LEIGH Centurions’ assistant coach Paul Rowley reckons a win over Widnes Vikings this Sunday would almost guarantee their play-off place in Co-operative National League One.

Rowley said: “Widnes will be targeting this as the big game to put them in the prime position for the play-offs but it’s one of a number of tough games we’ve got coming up.

“A win this week would go a long way to securing our play off position.

Widnes boss Steve McCormack said: “We know we’ve got it all on over the next few weeks to get into the top six but we’ve got a great bunch of players.

“Leigh are a good side and Neil Kelly’s there now, too. “They’ve got a lot of quality and they’re in the same boat as us – they’ll see this game as very important.”
